Berkhamsted Canal Towpath Reopens

The Canal & River Trust, the charity that cares for 2,000 miles of waterways in England & Wales, has completed a 14-week project to resurface just over half a mile of canal towpath in Berkhamsted from Waitrose to Bushes Lock (lock number 50), near Billet Lane.

The Borders Rail Project was initiated under the last Labour Government and was given the go-ahead under the previous Coalition Government's plans to revive the economy. It will be a welcome boost for the Scottish and the UK economies and is now nearing completion.

This year it is Watersmeet's 40th Birthday . The venue has provided facilities and opportunities for many and varied entertainments and lots of other events. We are lucky to have it. Celebrations are being planned ! ………………………………………………………………………. Some weeks ago TRDC carried out a consultation about whether the Council should use the new legislation on the Protection of Public Spaces to encourage/ persuade/ penalise the minority of local dog owners who do not control their dogs appropriately in public spaces, such as the Aquadrome. They need to be encouraged to do so and to collect their dog's faeces and put them into the appropriate dog bins. Most dog owner are very responsible, but TRDC does get complaints about those who are not. There has been a huge response to the consultation - over 3000 replies - and these must be properly assessed so the report has therefore been delayed and will not go to the Leisure Committee next week but will instead be on the Committee agenda on 16th September. ……
