Midland Mainline. The Tories Put the Brakes on Electrification After the Election - but Now the Project Can Proceed with Caution

The Midland Main Line is a route that is important to Hertfordshire, Hedfordshire and the East of Englan Region. It was all set to be electrified - but then the Tories put the brakes on and the stopped this much needed project. Now it has been, in the jargon, "unpaused" and the Transport Secretary is allowing work to restart - but much more slowly than before.

News from Rickmansworth Liberal Democrats - Three Rivers, a Lib Dem Run Council

The planning application 15/2230/FUL for the redevelopment of the former Gas Works site in Wharf Lane was on the agenda of the TRD Planning Committee on Thursday, 21st January. The Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) refused the application and this was notified in a Decision Letter dated 3rd February, 2016. The principal reasons were (a) Detrimental overdevelopment (b) No provision made for affordable housing.

Demanding Action on Hertfordshire's Highways

The Liberal Democrat County Group will be bringing the following motion to Herts County Council tomorrow (Tuesday 22 March) demanding action on Highways contractor, Ringway's record. "This Council is dissatisfied with the many failures in the highways service, such as: delays in carrying out work, with routine slippage into subsequent years lack of responsiveness from many highways and contractor staff Ringway's failure to carry out the basic housekeeping, including drain clearance, maintenance of signage, litter picking on high speed roads, that has given rise to the emergency programme announced recently faults being marked as closed despite the issues not being fixed fault reports being downgraded and left unfixed even when they are serious defects fault reports being left in some cases for well over a year as "awaiting for assessment" failure to deal with flooding problems and blocked gullies speedily or at all occasions of inadequate notification and engagement with local members and calls for an al
