Jo Lucey is new to politics - but not new to the area. She has lived in Rickmansworth for most of her life and is making a name for herself in the fields of ethnomusicology, sound engineering and as a radio host. Jo's political motivation arises from her social experiences. She passionately believes that everyone should have the opportunities to develop themselves, their skills and their lives to the full. Bees are crucial to the pollination of crops and to agricultural efficiency. However they are under threat from a number of chemicals - some in a quite unexpected manner. For example selective herbicides and fertilizer might not be expected to hurt bees at all. However spray drift from herbicides and fertilizer run off from the crop areas have led to field margins becoming dominated by a sparse vegetation composed of coarse grasses, nettles, docks and hogweed. Few flowering plants thrive here and bees have insufficient blossom to feed from.

The problem of littering from cars is spiralling. Last year in north Hertfordshire 80 tonnes of litter were collected from just 18 miles of A-roads. In Dorset 2 tonnes of litter was collected from a 5-mile section of the A338 at a cost to local taxpayers of £10,000.
