DBC's long overdue Sports and Activity has failed to satisfy scrutineers and has been sent back to the starting-line for a re-write. On Wednesday night at Scrutiny the draft was rejected and severely criticised by Liberal Democrat Cllrs Adrian England and Lara Pringle, as well as some Conservative Cllrs. Cllr England said: "What's missing? It lacks at least 5 things that anything worthy of being called a Strategy should have - Big Picture, headline data, Ownership, headline resources and a timescale." The Committee agreed that the strategy document should be re-written and brought back to Scrutiny for appraisal. At the HCC Council Meeting of 27th March, Lara Pringle, the new DBC councillor for Northchurch presented a petition from the local Road Safety Pressure Group, "Go 20 Northchurch". Local residents have been calling for some time for a 20 mph speed limit to be imposed on the centre of the village.

These were originally built and provided at public expense for shared use both by the public and the school. Over the years, access by the public to these facilities has become more and more restricted.
