Next Wednesday, the Conservatives, in the person of Chancellor George Osbourn, will deliver the results of his Comprehensive Spending Review now without the benefit of Lib Dem leavening. Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron has delivered his first economic speech as Leader and sets out the Liberal Democrat priorities ahead of the Comprehensive Spending Review.

Government Defeated as Lib Dems Win on Votes at 16

Peers have backed calls to give 16 and 17 year olds the right to take part in the UK's EU referendum. The House of Lords voted to amend the European Referendum Bill - which paves the way for a poll by the end of 2017 - to extend the franchise, by 293 to 211.

Huge Backward Step on Climate Change

The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Amber Rudd, has given a speech on the Government's new energy policy. It involves cutting back further on renewables and increasing nuclear and gas. Decarbonisation has been down-graded in terms of priority.

As a fitting finale to the year's 700th anniversary celebrations, the Charter itself is coming to Tring for the very first time! The frail and ancient document, which is cared for amongst the country's priceless historic treasures at The National Archives at Kew, is to be brought here on loan for a very short period.

Lib Dem Councillor Hits Out at Hertfordshire Tories' Cuts and the Tory Government's Economic Policies.

At last Tuesday's Hertfordshire Council meeting, Nick Hollinghurst, County Councillor for Tring and the Villages, hit out at the Tory Government's inconsistencies on public spending and the economy. The Hertfordshire Tories had announced further budget cuts and once again trotted out Geoge Osborne's excuse that - now 7 years after the banking crash - the UK's economic situation was still so bad that further spending cuts were both urgent and unavoidable.
