What's On? November in Tring

Saturday 21st - Tring WI Christmas Bazaar - 10am-12 noon at the Victoria Hall, Akeman Street. Entry 20p. Stalls will include crafts, books, jewellery, cakes, preserves, cards and much more. Raffle for charity. Refreshments available.

Charter 700 - See the Tring Charter In Person

As a fitting finale to the year's 700th anniversary celebrations, the Charter itself is coming to Tring for the very first time! The frail and ancient document, which is cared for amongst the country's priceless historic treasures at The National Archives at Kew, is to be brought here on loan for a very short period.

Lib Dem Councillor Hits Out at Hertfordshire Tories' Cuts and the Tory Government's Economic Policies.

At last Tuesday's Hertfordshire Council meeting, Nick Hollinghurst, County Councillor for Tring and the Villages, hit out at the Tory Government's inconsistencies on public spending and the economy. The Hertfordshire Tories had announced further budget cuts and once again trotted out Geoge Osborne's excuse that - now 7 years after the banking crash - the UK's economic situation was still so bad that further spending cuts were both urgent and unavoidable.

Changing Lights

Hertfordshire Making Slow Progress Towards Replacing the County's Street Lights

Credit where credit's due - we're all pleased that Hertfordshire County Council is moving towards the replacement of its street lights. It was of course due to an initiative of the Coalition Government - under the influence of the Liberal Democrats - in providing initial grants to kickstart the process. But fair's fair - Hertfordshire did move fast to be one of the first authorities in the country to take advantage of these and to commit to an eventual full light replacement.
