Commenting on the launch of the Liberal Democrat manifesto today, Dr Richard Grayson said,
"As Vice-Chair of the party's national policy committee I was closely involved in drafting the manifesto as part of the manifesto writing group over the past two years, so it is great to see it finally published. I believe that the manifesto offers an ambitious but realistic programme of government. I am particularly pleased to see that the environment receives such thorough coverage in the document - this was an issue I pushed particularly hard in the drafting, although I should stress that it was never met with resistance. I especially welcome the continuation of the inclusion of green policies in every chapter which was something I developed as the party's Director of Policy in 1999-2004.
"From a local perspective, a powerful policy change proposed in the manifesto is the election of those making big decisions on the NHS, through Local Health Boards. This would make a major difference to Hemel hospital."
