Council can't cut grass & plant flowers at the same time

June 10, 2009 12:00 AM

Cllr Brenda Link with uncut grassAt the June Environment Committee of Dacorum Council, Liberal Democrat Cllr for Highfield Lloyd Harris expressed the numerous concerns from residents about the grass not being cut, but left to grow for what seemed like months.

In response the Conservative portfolio holder for environment told the committee that the council staff couldn't cut the grass because the crews were planting flowers. That together with the rain meant the grass was left uncut for long periods of time.

Cllr Lloyd Harris said "It never ceases to amaze me how this Conservative-run council can find an excuse for everything. First we hear that they need to slash the number of flowerbeds to save money, now they can't cut the grass because they are planting flowers. I used to love seeing the flowers in Heath Park as I drove past, they are now gone.

"The neighbourhood toilets are closed and now the grass can't be cut for long periods. Have this administration lost sight of what the Council is there for?"

"If you have long grass in local green spaces near you, I urge you to call the Council and make a complaint on 01442 867858 or log it online at www.dacorum.gov.uk"
