Richard Grayson has committed personally to reducing carbon emissions by 10 per cent in 2010. He today signed up for the 10:10 Campaign at: www.1010uk.org/
Hemel's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Dr Grayson, said:
While there needs to be better government policy to reduce carbon emissions, we can all make our contribution. My personal determination is to reduce driving on local trips. I have already started using my bike a great deal more over the summer, and I hope not to make any local trips by car unless I am giving someone else a lift, or carrying something heavy.
I have also already been making an impact on reducing waste by using the Hemel Freecycle network a great deal. In the past few months, we have given away camping mats, stair gates, a nappy bin, a Hoover, a child's bicycle seat and three camp beds. Getting these re-used avoids waste, and also means that other people don't create emissions by purchasing new products. This is something I plan to carry on doing and I would urge others to look at the Hemel Freecycle network online at www.freecycle.org/group/UK/East/Hemel%20Hempstead
