Dr Richard Grayson today urged local people to support the 'Green Gathering' being held in Hemel on Saturday 21st November, organised by 'Hemel in Transition'. The event will see a focus on promoting a more sustainable way of life, with a range of activities taking place in the Old Town area.
Dr Grayson said:
This is a really important event and I am looking forward to attending. The challenges we face on the environment often seem so great that people throw up their hands and say there is nothing that individuals can do. That is where the Transition Towns movement comes in, showing the way for people to make a difference in their local area. I have been a member of Friends of the Earth for twenty years and for a lot of that time, environmental issues have been seen as marginal by many people. It is great to see that changing now with people from a wide range of backgrounds realising the necessity of sustainability.
